I have ordered a 3DS recently and I wanted to get cfw on it. I settled on a R4i SDHC 3DS RTS (ID 146 on nds-card) but I was wondering whether I can revert to it's DS mode after injecting ntrboothax.

Just follow the guide, if your card is on the list reflash will work.

Except, back-up the firmware, and flash that back to the card, instead of using a dump you download.
I have at least 2 different dumps from 'R4i Gold Pro' excluding the one for download.
Making a backup used to be mandatory, before the 'inject' option would even do its work.
