Can you play backup games online?

    PS3 it's not possible because you're on a lower firmware.
    If you're on the latest system menu, can you play backups online? Does Nintendo care?

    a) you can.

    b) ninty doesnt care at all.

    c) you dont need to be on the latest system menu to play online.

    So I could backup brawl or tatsunoko and go straight online, no having to bypass/change settings/remove files anything like that?

    Welcome to the world of Nintendo!

    About online play: Never cheat! This can lead to a ( permanent ) ban!
    Play fair and have fun!

    Also some games want you to update from the game.
    Make sure you have the latest Wiishopchannel installed if you get an error with these games while updating them.

    Call of Duty black ops and the conduit 2 require an update from game.
    These update can be savely done without any drawback on your Wii's setup.

    Well there are to cheat codes that temporarily change your MAC address and SN while playing on online so you can never be banned permanently. [​IMG]

    The 2 profiles thing is old info. They fixed that in a patch long ago.

    I've tried Mario Kart Wii recently and it shows the error connection code 20102.
    So, some backup games may be banned by Nintendo and requires additional hacking!

    This is a wel known ban code error. You my friend are a cheater or have used cheats online.
    This has nothing to do with playing online the "normal" way.
    Nintendo can't check if you have a copy or original disc but can ban people who use cheats or hack within a session.
    They even give permanent bans.

    In other words : you'll only get problem when you cheat online. No worries if you want to use backups.
    All disc ID's for games are the same. Example: there's only 1 ID for Mario kart.

    NEVER EVER CHEAT ONLINE. WE HATE CHEATER HERE ON GBA TEMP!

    I think this happened because i was using a savegame downloaded from Wii Save (i wanted everything unlocked).
    Now i've created a new driving license and i'm able to play online!

    I understand cheating online is a bad thing and so it is good the big N bans these accounts.
    Btw, do all the online servers are managed by Nintendo?

    No, some by the developers. (Capcom moderates Monter Hunter Tri servers every tuesday here in Europe )

    Ok, so they may folow different rules...

    Btw, when i select "Regional" play in MKW the server takes my location from the game region (USA) instead of my user setting (Europe).
    Can i override the game region with an USB loader option?

    No Online connection is handled from in game.

    does this apply to DS games too?

    EDIT: i mean, when choosing "regional" play, USA games can connect to USA servers only (regardless of user settings).

    Nintendo could care less.
    Don't hack, and you can play online [​IMG]
    (but even if you hack, you don't have a big chance of getting banned)
