Hacking Can you download and apply a patch for a retail disc game?

I bought God of War after 5.50 came out, so I was never able to connect to PSN to download the patch.

Now that HEN is out, is it possible to download the latest patch that still uses 5.05 and install it and have it work? Would I have to rip the game first? I heard that retail saves wouldn't be compatible with ripped versions, is that true?

Yes you can. Google for ‘ps4 octolus’ and go to the first site (this site does not contain pirated games). Download the correct update .pkg file for your region and install using the Package Installer. Job done. This ONLY works for legit retail games.

However, make sure the patch works on 5.05. For example, the God of War day 1 patch requires 5.50.

No cant apply retail patch to fake signed game.

Legit saves dont work with fake signed games, and visa-versa.

GOW has no 5.05 compatible patches.

if we install a fake pkg - the only way to get an update patch compatible with 5.05 is from someone who installed a legit patch over a legit game that dumped it and turned that into a fake pkg/patch?

It seems that the fake patch and fake game have to be dumped and signed together. A patch from a different source will not work.

Yes it can via Duxas tools.

As long as CUSA ID matches you can re-pair an update to a base game, regardless where it was dumped.
