You know installing a custom cfw to download games directly to your 3DS.

If you're on 9.2 or lower, yes, you can use your Sky3ds to emulate Cubic Ninja during the process.
Just search the forums and you'll likely find whatever questions you have already answered. :P

If you were to sell off your console & buy a New Old 3ds, it'll be on <9.2 firmware.
You could also hunt for a N3DS using the Firmware by Serial Number guide. Though it'd be a bit more expensive. :P

I'll just wait until they release an update.

My N3DS still hasn't arrive here yet. I ordered it from the internet.

Is there a way for me to not update it all? I'll wait until they release cfw for the update I'm using.

How long approximately will it take?

Best way to not update is to never accept and start the update if you let the DS download it by leaving the wifi on while the lid is closed.

As for when / if an exploit will come out for >9.2 firmware, my crystal ball says: I don't know.

    :)

So I should never leave the 3DS with the wifi on?

*In standby mode* That's only if you don't want the update nag. Even then, you can get rid of it by turning off the 3DS > L + R + Up + A while turning the system back on > Enter the update menu & select no.

It'll restart your system with the update nag removed; until you leave the wifi on in standby mode again.
