Okay I know the answer is yes, but does it require anything I'm not expecting? Not a networking wizard by any means, but realistically, I should be able forward port 5050 for my server on my network and give my public IP to my friend and he should be able to connect right? I hate having to go through hamachi. Has anyone done this before?

Sure! Got it figured out anyway (you can). some pointers though from my troubleshooting. Make sure you are on a cemu version prior to 2.0-47, otherwise it doesn't work.

It's a bit of setup, but I'd be happy to help if you need it.

Yes, this should be all that is needed. I did the same for Odyssey online, and a Minecraft server, and am planning on doing it for Botw online sometime this week.
