I don't recommend DevMenu for anything considering it's a gamble on if you'll mess your databases up or not, requiring a reformat.

Tinfoil can choose to install between NAND (internal) and SD.

Some version can install to nand but me I use rommenu from https://gbatemp.net/download/darth-meteos-super-special-sd-stash.35102/

It allow you to install Game/Update/DLC to MicroSD/Nand
I wouldn't recommend Rommenu anymore as it cannot differentiate between good and bad NSPs. What this means is that if you are trying to install an NSP that can damage your console (which do indeed exist), Tinfoil will prevent it from being installed while Rommenu won't leading to damage (that is reversible with a NAND backup)

It...can...? Are you sure you're not confusing it with an earlier build of Tinfoil? Tinfoil can do everything Rommenu can do and more such as bypassing the firmware requirement, not just for games but updates too.
With the latest darth meteos stash tinfoil can't

Can this new version of Tinfoil install updates? Or am I just going to get a definitive “no” from someone who doesn’t actually know the answer?

Any difference, rumors or facts regarding security (bans) by installing on memory? I`m installing the DLC`s to the console memory. Does it make a difference?

No but I've been told that it's better to install to where the game is located which is most likely the SD

One thing that just occurred to me.... The sound on the 2600 sucked less back then the harsh sound we hear now is from infinitely better speakers we have now, back when the 2600 was new speakers produced a almost muffled sound, like CRTs made old graphics look slightly better.
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
I wonder if I could recommend that to some emulation devs that perhaps the sound could use some smoothing out to simulate those old TVs
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
I think a few of the early systems could benefit from that, at least up to the 8 bit generation, by the 16 bit generation I think TVs had gotten a lot better in almost every way

i dont have an sd card adapter but I have an usb sd card adapter

    For your R4
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
It's old but it's the best firmware out for DS stuff
  • Xdqwerty @ Xdqwerty:
it says it only works for the original R4, R4i Gold (r4ids.cn), R4iDSN (r4idsn.com) and Acekard R.P.G.
  • Xdqwerty @ Xdqwerty:
    nvm it does support mine
  • Xdqwerty @ Xdqwerty:
but why choose it over ysmenu @Psionic Roshambo?
  • Xdqwerty @ Xdqwerty:

  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
Just give it a try, but honestly if you have a 3DS you can play DS games without a card just off the internal SD card
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
Slightly slower loading but a bit more convenient
