Gaming Can the wii u still be hooked up and played without the gamepad

Getting a switch but still want to keep the wii u around for xenoblade x, bayonetta 2 and my wii games

You can't do initial setup without both a gamepad and an external monitor, and even past this hurdle it won't be fun - a lot of software needs it (whether by outright refusing to launch, like Mii Maker and therefore browserhax, or by launching without warning and then being unplayable like Captain Toad, or simply missing more or less important features)

Depends on the game, I mainly use my Wii U for Mario Kart 8 which doesn't need the gamepad.
