Since with the recent news of Metal Gear Solid Touch and it's impressive screenshots (http://wireless.ign.com/dor/objects/14306701/metal-gear-solid/images/metal-gear-solid-touch-screens-20081217090508848.html), can it compete alongside the DS/PSP already?

EDIT: Meant "third handheld" in the title

you are trying to compare two different markets and two different types of customers. it's apples and oranges all over again.

Of course it can, we all get along just fine, consoles & hand-helds, you name it & it plays games, we all co-exist even if we dont want to. Kinda like humans. [IMG]

Pointless question. It's like comparing apples and bananas.

When I'm browsing the App Store, sometimes I see nice games, but I usually don't get them because that's why I have a DS. I've found that the most simple games are the ones that I usually go back to, just because they don't eat up all of the memory and they're kinda more like what phone games should be.

If they tried to turn the iPhone/iPod Touch into a gaming console, well.. good luck with that. One of the Apple reps said that it is a gaming platform now though, so uh... we'll see how this goes. And we'll also watch the reaction of the Apple fanboys, while we're at it...

I cannot see it happening. Some games will be developed but mainly developers will put the money on the homeconsoles.

I dunno, big names like Konami and NamcoBandai are developing for it. They could put the "pone" in iPhone.

    No.
    - No buttons (buttons = GOOD things)
    - Uses digital distribution (which is stupid in my opinion)
    - Most of the games feel like cheap flash games
