Hacking Can the edge play zipped games or do you have to unzip them?

I also want to know if the SnemulDS, Picodrive, and other emulators play zipped files.

This would save me space on my sd card.

Look into ROM trimming, it's kind of exactly what you're looking for.

unzipped because it can't open aipped folders because it does not go with that file type most flashcarts without hombrew only read .nds
