Hacking Can the a European 3DS play American 3DS games if it's running Luma3DS?

So I have a 3DS (European) that runs Luma3DS. I wanted to get all 3 Regions of a game to run on my 3DS so I downloaded a few ROMs. I have the European game on a cartridge so that's no issue, I downloaded the Japanese version and installed it. Besides the banner (The thing that shows on the top screen when you hover over it) it worked fine. So I downloaded the North American version and installed it. Firstly I noticed that the banner was identical to the European version, which it shouldn't be. So I open the game and after the "Nintendo 3DS" screen, it took me to an exception handler. So it crashed. I tried various different ROMs but they all crashed before loading a single game element. Is there a way to fix this? Please let me know!

Yes, Luma3DS allows region-free. Some games don't handle running on mis-regioned consoles well. In this case, it sounds like the US version of the game has some kind of vestigial European support and is trying to run in European mode since that's what your 3DS is reporting, then not finding any of the European-specific content so it crashes.

Luma3DS has locale emulation for precisely this reason, you can get games to run as if your console is a different region: https://github.com/AuroraWright/Luma3DS/wiki/Optional-features

Just "USA EN" should be all you need. Technically locale emulation does allow you to be more specific than that, but you almost never need to do so.

So the game works, but for some reason, trying to load the NTR booter crashes the system. Any fix?

Luma 3DS handles out of region games just fine.
But having 3 versions of a game installed at the same time is pointless IMO.
get luma locale switcher as @AmandaRose aforementioned if you want out of region dlc for said games to work as well this gets the job done.
Make sure to scan the nightly QR code if you're using luma 9.1 or above which you likely are.
