For starters, this kind of poor spelling gives me the feeling you don't want to put any effort into what you're doing.
Just update normally and recieve the sdxc license. You're already version 5, dude. Just update the console. You gain nothing by remaining offline at that point.
The only people who don't want to update are below firmware 4 and want to partake in tetherless cfw booting. You have nothing to lose, friend.

I’m on 4.10 and that’s my dilemma. If I put my sd card on fat32 no problem, but if I format the card exfat it prompts me to update........decisions decisions!!!!

You know you can get the exFAT update without being on the latest firmware right? Just check out the Tutorials subforum.
I know Draxzelex. I was also looking at the games FW requirement and not many games are running on the latest FW. I got the SX PRO on hand. I’m second guessing myself about updating to the latest FW.

Do you check the nwsdb.com for what firmware games run? You are right though, most games don't need 5.1. To me, the big ones are Captain Toad and Octopath Traveler.
just do the update officially...there really is no reason to stay on low firmware (for now anyway). You're doing yourself more harm staying on older firmwares (sooner or later games will start requiring higher firmwares than what you have, thus restricting you on what games you can play. I mean, you bought a Switch, don't you want to play the games it has to offer? Don't be surprised if Smash Bros requires 5.1)
Can you tell me if when I insert my SD card with exfat it prompt me for system update. Is this the update for the FW 5.1.0 and the exfat support combined?

Yep it will update your firmware to latest while also giving you the exfat support.
your console is already updated to the latest FW you can add it just buy inserting an exFAT sd card

as about forums, when i recently revisited some old forums i used to be regular and seeing how immature most members still are i was like "Yeap. Nothing of value has been lost.". Unfortunately it's the good, comfy forums that ended up dead or shut down, especially because of internet centralization.
