I got into RCM once using a standard paperclip without a joycon plugged in, but it was just good luck and I haven't been able to do it again since.

Edit: Everyone, forget modding your joycons and just get a copper wire https://pbs.twimg.com/media/Dbep2KZV0AA-DWz.png

You can take apart the switch and short it there :D
Or be lucky and short it with paperclip again.
Or try to bend it with something really tiny.

Lately I've been jamming paperclips into my rails too, yeah. Haven't been able to get it to go into RCM but if I can get some needle-nose pliers or other wire-bending tools I could probably make a working clip.

From what I've heard, the nintendo logo shouldn't display/system shouldn't boot normally if everything is done right. I don't have a payload on a card yet but I'm pretty damn sure that the switch won't act normal if everything is done correctly.

It should just stay on black screen (no backlight). So without connecting it to PC, you cant really tell.

I should be getting everything I need tommorow, so I can actually perfect a paperclip that does what I want. If I make something that works I guess I'll post here

Would a small piece of aluminium foil work?

I don't have a Switch, but I think that any wire should do. Just find an old broken phone cord or something.

While alu foil is a good conductor, faced with the risk of exactly that getting loose inside your Switch wihtout easily getting it out - dont do it. ;)

If just a cable touching the fan (housing?) on one side, and pin 10 on the other side does it - it realy doesnt get much simpler. For "daily use" hopefuly some 1USD trinket will be available eventually, if this turns out to be the "easiest" way for most people.

edit: For people not reading the links, the github link above includes a 3D model of a plastic part that will fit into the rail, and instructions how to modify a micro usb connector and merge it with the 3D print to short two of the pins.

Thats an easy way you can make this "yourself" - if or some reason you don't want to just go with a cable.

And again - as soon as it turns out, that this is the method most people will be using, stores will be full of this "item".

It's been a while since I've played with foil, but if you're careful when making a little thing to jam down the rail getting little foil bits stuck in places they shouldn't be won't be an issue. Cut rough edges off the foil sheet, use good foil, etc.

This gonna be good. A bunch of teenagers and adults raiding their offices and kitchens and break rooms to get foil and paperclips to jam into their game consoles.

How was this bug found? Did someone just decide to start bridging components of the Switch until something happened?
