I've never used the Wii as a DVD reader before, and I tried to load some TV shows I have on a DVD, although I couldn't get it to mount. I installed DVDx when using BootMii on the Wii, and I installed MPlayer CE v0.75 (v0.76 wouldn't load).

Is the reason it wouldn't mount because I need to install a cIOS, or can MPlayer not load data disks?

MPlayer-CE is perfectly able to load data discs, just look around the menu for it maybe under open. I hacked up my menu to only show what I want and am far too stoned to try to figure out where. But do be assured it can play from data DVD's

Alright, thanks. It said it couldn't mount the disk, so I figure I may have to patch an IOS.

No need to fiddle with the IOS's, just make sure DVDx is installed via the bootmii installer.
Then burn ur .avi files or whatever to a dvd-r. Open the latest version of mplayer ce, go to open>file>wii dvd.

It depends on your Wii. D3-2 drives will never read DVD's FYI.

This Wii was bought in December of 2009, would that be a D3-2 drive?

Well, poo. When I got this Wii I expected it to play DVDs without customization. Hell, the PS2 can.

Thanks for the help. I suppose I'll uninstall DVDx, if I can.

DVDx is useful if you get into the homebrew scene. It's worth keeping around [IMG]
