libdi only lets you load DVD-Videos. I suppose you could try to set it to DVD-ROM, but I doubt that would make a difference.

libdi does not let you load burnt game discs, period. It doesn't matter what the disc is set to.

I'd check out Starfall and install "Start rescue-menu when Y is held on 1st GC controller " ; This homebrew application is only applicable if you have System Menu 3.2E(v290) or 3.2U(v289). I use custom banner channels and am using this as a backup.

Rescue menu patch to boot everything not just diag-discs (NOT AN ISO LOADER PATCH); in the case Wii went kaputz you can make your Wii somewhat functional after installing a modchip and system menu patches or uninstall whatever bunk wad, etc. That's the skinny of it...search around for more info

Keep a mental note of what you install on your Wii (wads, custom channels, etc) so in case something does happen, you can search online for possible solutions/workarounds. I like not jumping into something right away and let everyone else be the public test subjects; decide from peoples results if an application/game, etc is worth putting on my Wii or not.

How exactly are you planning on semi-bricking an unmodded wii?

If you buy a game from another region it wont load let alone give you that games update if it has one... tbh you shouldn't worry at all about bricking your Wii unless you chip it

He's installed custom banner channels. From what I've read that's a good way to turn your Wii into a doorstopper.

Unless he is installing Different Region WiiWare or VC games he won't brick his Wii.. custom channels will prob more than brick it and unless any1 has gone thru it and say it bricks the wii but yet it is still fixable I still stick by the fact you can't brick your wii unless different region.... rendering the Wii unusable is a different story [IMG] but so far I haven't read anything about people having trouble with homebrew channels like that

well i have installed VC/WiiWare from other regions. but i've had them for a long time and thank god nothings happened, and i doubt it's going to randomly brick now, but you know, having knowledge of how i can fix it isn't such a bad idea. i spose i'll worry about it if it ever happens though.
