I have done a search, but all the results are for using the same HDD for Wii U and Wii games. But what I want to know, is if I can use the same HDD with different Wii U's?

I recently upgraded my Wii U, but all my content on my same HDD. Will I have to reformat it and reinstall all my content?

WiiU HDD is formatted entirely and encrypted per console. you can't use a HDD from a wiiu on another Wiiu.
upgrading the WiiU (firmware version) is not a problem. using a different console or Formatting the WiiU is a problem, it uses a different encryption key, and the HDD is not compatible anymore and need to be formatted again.

Yes, when I said upgraded, I meant to a different, nicer, console. Thanks.
