So a friend of mine is thinking of selling me his switch. I was wondering if I could use RCM to run android to play some emulations without getting banned. Or even if possible to play switch games with another CFW(I think that's the name) on a different SD card from the original one. Would use the android and CFW on a different SD card. Having I3 different SD cards, one for android, one for CFW games and one for online games. If I did that, would it be possible to play online using a different SD card that never saw these CFW with out the risk of being banned?

I'm pretty sure that launching into RCM itself won't be detectable, but launching CFW while connected to the internet might be, no matter what you're doing (EDIT: I believe launching CFW on your main NAND at all without doing any kind of clean NAND restore from a blank dump can get you flagged the next time you connect to nintendo's services).

Safest is to execute RCM, go into a CFW loader such as SX Loader / Hekate / Atmosphere and do a dump of the NAND (the flash chip that stores the switch's firmware) to your installed SD card and possibly enable AutoRCM. With AutoRCM enabled, the switch won't boot into Horizon without the USB-C dongle from TX or connecting it to a PC or android phone and using an RCM app, but you also don't need to use the jig every time. If you plan to switch SD cards around in order to play legit and go online, I'd recommend against using AutoRCM but to be very careful about how you're booting, if you have wi-fi enabled on the system, and which SD card you have installed.

With all that, you should be able to set up android on there and/or use CFW on EmuNAND (running that NAND dump you did before from your SD card). As long as you don't connect to the internet with CFW you should be fine.

Plenty of guides on GBATemp and across the net to help you do things smart and safe.

So if I never go online except when I have the "normal" SD card inside then it's ok? But one thing I didn't get. If I run android on the switch I won't be able to use the internet without a ban? Or is it just with sx or atmosphere?

Things you almost certainly will not be banned for doing:
    1. Entering RCM
    2. Installing AutoRCM
    3. Launching Hekate or any other RCM payload that doesn't boot Horizon (the Switch's operating system)
    4. Booting Android
    5. Booting an offline emuMMC
Things you probably won't be banned for doing:
    1. Booting vanilla Atmosphere
    2. Using certain homebrew applications while in CFW, especially offline
Things you might be banned for doing:
    1. Using other homebrew applications while in CFW, especially online
    2. Using modified save files online
    3. Game mods, especially online
Things you will definitely be banned for doing:
    1. Installing pirated games
    2. Cheating online
In summary, you will not be banned for booting Android on your Switch, regardless of what's on your SD card and when. If you want to use basic homebrew with Atmosphere, you probably won't be banned. If you want to use pirated games, you should use a dirty emuMMC for pirated games and a clean sysMMC for online play.

If you're not even using Switch online play, you can just make a clean sysMMC backup and not even use an emuMMC. Just keep the dirty sysMMC offline or use Atmosphere's Incognito function.

Banned for using android on the switch is far far away from a ban. Don't worry. You can use wifi in android.

What's the sweat spot for a switch sd card? I'm planing on getting just one after seeing that you can put android and games on one card. For the online games I plan on using a 32gb. So I was wondering is a 128gb sd card enough? Or should I go higher?

32gb only if you use retail games a lot. Otherwise 128gb is okay, but i recommend 256gb.

Just go as high as you can afford in a reputable brand card. SanDisk or Samsung.

Personally I thought the 400gb SanDisk Ultra was the sweet spot as far as space vs value.

Not if it’s i-patched. Check before you buy.

It's not patched. Now I'm just waiting for my sd card to arrive. Ended up getting a 256gb one.

One last questing. When you guys say pirated games you mean the ones we find on the internet for download right? But if I play those games won't I get banned? I mean like if I got civ 6 to play with my friends I would not be able to even using a dirty sysmmc because of the ban thing.

You risk getting banned when you go online after using any CFW or homebrew. Stuff like Android or Linux are safe because they do not touch the main OS.
