I'm running 4.3U on a Wii from dec 2006. Problem is that my disc drive stopped working. I sent my Wii in to Nintendo and I think they gave me a new one. This was in early 2009? It was before I had the HBC. Now I have it and everything works fine 'cept for DVDs. I honestly don't want to use them for anything but storing psx and n64 games.

    Yup, I have some 4.7GB DVD-R discs

your disc drive was most likely replaced with a d 3-2 drive which is incapable of reading dvds. So software or mod chip will help the situation. I would suggest just getting an external hdd and using that for your psx and n64 games.

Check to see if your Wii had a D3-2 drive replaced to it. If it does, you're out of hope for the most part, unless you are capable of purchasing an older disc drive, and replacing it with your Wii's current one. DVDX is now obsolete, because of new exploits in the latest Homebrew Channel.

Why can't you use it for your wii games and your emulators?
