It's possible, yes. Although I'm unsure if you can just use the main settings app if you're wanting to reinstall the firmware; I believe you have to update through PC via recovery mode if you want to do it.

You have any idea why your vita keep crashing? What exactly happen, can you least describe it? It may not be necessary to reflash firmware, maybe rebuild database, or a format could help.

Before doing any of the suggestions, try removing the memory card and using it, if it still crashes, then just format the system, if it still crashes, you have a problem. If it doesn't crash without memory card, then is the memory card and not the system, you may need to do one of two things.

Back up your save data first if poossible, i never tested but it should be possible using vitashell, or just backup all your games and apps using the content manager, copy only the games thar have any save data you wanna keep to your pc, it for some reason is required to preserve save data as the data is connected to the apps (i swear is as dumb as wii u ) :glare:

I never did but is possible to backup using a ps3 as well.:ninja:

I tried formatting the memory card and even borrowing a new one but my Vita is still throwing the same error:

An error has occured. The PS Vita system will be powered off. [******]

I think this is endemic to OLED Vitas(phat ones) and it's quite sad no one seems to have any clue what causes it or how it can be fixed. I have never ever read of a Vita dying completely so I'm at a loss on why this is happening. It's a shame because it frankly renders the Vita frustratingly borderline unusable.
