    Between insane and insecure
So you do have a few options
Buy a 2DS or a used 3DS and hack that. That will allow you to do a DSiWarehax
    Hardmod your system
Wait for NTRBootHAX to get released and buy an pre-exploited cart
Wait for a new kernel exploit to be found
Sell your system and buy an exploitable one.

Well that's unfortunate. Guess I'll just find someone who can hardmod my system for me since I do not trust myself to do it correctly.

You don't need cfw to play out of region carts, just homebrewlauncher access which can be attained through a exploitable game like cubic ninja or oot with a power save.

But in 11.4 and 11.5 there is no primary entry point (at least I think)

There is also no current kernel exploits on either 11.4 or 11.5, which is why dsiwarehax, the ntrboothax or a hardmod is needed for full CFW

I take it 2DS XL is 11.4? Can you play backup games on it?

Are the backup games your wanting like saves to games you bought on the system? You would need a working primary entry point, which there are a few but cost to get. And use JK's save manager .3dsx to load the saves. If you are talking of games from say freeshop you need to get cfw with needs the dsiwarehax or hardmod to get.

You used the wrong word then. Primary means you only need one thing for it (eg Cubic Ninja, Freaky Forms).

    Why?
Soundhax is primary entry point and it is free. You don't need a cartridge and it is still primary entry point.

SoundHax only needs one thing also. It's a primary entry point too. Non-primary entrypoints are like OoThax or Steelhax, that require something else to be installed (To already have homebrew on another console or a PowerSaves in the case of OoThax, to already have homebrew on the range console in the case of Steelhax)

You said "primary" when you meant "free". You said there were no primary entrypoints for 11.4 and 11.5, but there are.

Primary Exploit - Stand alone HomeBrew exploit. Requires no additional peripherals, a one and done install (save for payloads).
Secondary Exploit - Requires system permissions not accessible from OFW to install; Need access to HomeBrew/CFW/3rd Party Hardware for installation.

Both types can be free OR paid. @Quantumcat was merely saying that you used the wrong word when you referred to a "free" exploit as a primary one. As of writing this, according to https://3dbrew.org/wiki/Homebrew_Exploits there are three primary exploits that work on 11.4 (N3DS)- Ninjhax, FreakyHax and SmashbrosHax. There are two secondary exploits that work on 11.4 oot3dhax and stickerhax. There are no binary payloads for 11.5 because it's not required. When/if an exploit is released/updated for 11.5 it will most likely use the 11.4 payload renamed citing the lack of firm/module updates.
