and when does this black screen appear?
turn on the console holding START, it will apear the DS menu, open the slot 2 card, if this black menu doesn't appear it means the ds is trying to launch it in NDS mode,
probably you have flash me

one way to know if your console has flashme installed, is there a health and safety screen with you boot up the console?

IIRC it would be a white screen if it was flashme.
it shows as black.
if you launch the card in NDS mode, since the NDS mode was removed, the card enters in firmware update mode.. which is a black screen, because it can't find the firmware file, it stays "frozen"

Appears after the GBA boot screen vanishes.

ok, if the gba logo appears, that means good. no flashme interference...

that said, now to figure out whats going on.
the card is working fine in a gba, right?

Yes, but I cannot continue these questions right now. I only tested it long enough to see if it works on at least one ROM. If I wanna continue this, I'm gonna have to return as soon as I get it back for my birthday.

I'll bookmark this page till then for future reference. Thanks for helping me up to this point!
