hey guys so I need some help here.

Is there anyway to install FBI with only Homebrew ? I mostly want it so I can get NTRViewer so I can record/stream my 3DS.

I already have Homebrew on 11.6 using FreakyHax, and was wondering if anyone can point me in the right direction. Or simply telling me it’s not possible without CFW

Not on 11.6. You'll need a compatible DS flashcart such as this one and use ntrboot: http://www.nds-card.com/ProShow.asp?ProID=575

If you're on 11.3 or less you can use FBI from homebrew to install legit cias only (see the pinned post in the flashcarts and CFW forum to explain what a legit cia is). This won't help you use NTR though (as KunoichiZ said). And you're on 11.6 anyway so you can't access anything but userland, if you don't install CFW.

Fbi is less like an exploit, and more like an installer that requires an exploit. You can actually run fbi through the hbl, but it will be unable to install anything without a full cfw to apply signature patches.

I use NTRBoothax to boot to emunand from a unmodded (no b9s) console.

its very simple, just skip the b9s installation and boot straight to luma.
sometimes I use this to install legit tickets and cias on a unmodded console.

this ntrboothax is heaven sent.

most of the time I dont really need the functionality of a b9s exploited console. I just wanna run freeshop on it to install games, once done remove the ntrboot flashcart and power cycle the 3ds, and whoala installed games on a unmodded console.

the only thing helpful to me with cfw is able to install my own purchased tickets, with this, I can either just copy the game files on my computer to a 3ds sd card or just download them straight on freeshop.

The games are unsigned that you get from freeshop. Same as any other non legit cia you can get from anywhere. You will never be able to install them, remove b9s and hope to play the games on a unmodded console.
Also, power cycling, or formatting system memory never removes b9s from the system.

What a super bizarre setup, I'm actually at a loss for words. You're making more work for yourself unnecessarily, by choice.

You've got nothing to lose, and everything to gain by installing b9s. Your reasoning is literally beyond my comprehension.

But whatever, in the end it's your choice.

Removing the flashcart doesn't just uninstall cfw. Also, i suggest reading this post i've made earlier to clarify what a cfw is and how useful it could be. It's extremely useful and provides input about the pros and cons of cfw:
I'm going to say this now so I can copy and paste this into other threads to explain exactly what a cfw is:

Basically, a cfw (Custom FirmWare), is several patches applied to the 3ds OS launched via some sort of exploit (in most cases b9s). These patches range from signature patches (allowing for the installation of CIA files with invalid tickets) to the Rosalina system module that pops up when L+DOWN+SELECT are held. Otherwise, there is no difference between a regular vanilla 3ds and a 3ds with a cfw launcher installed (as a cfw is never really installed. What is really being installed is something that launches a cfw. That's why godmode9 and other payloads can be loaded too). This means that the 3ds can be updated as normal, with no need to worry about losing games or saves. The same goes for updating games, which is discussed in detail later. In fact, you could install b9s (boot9strap) and use your 3ds like a completely normal 3ds, and there would be absolutely zero difference between that 3ds and a regular vanilla one. The only way to tell would be to send it in to Nintendo.

Due to a lack of account system on the 3ds at launch (Nintendo network IDs were shoehorned in later, and thus don't function quite right), all 3ds games acquired illegitimately (CIA files) function identically to games that were purchased and installed through legitimate means. This means that pirated games can be updated and played online just like normal games. The only exception to this is if the game is from a different region then the 3ds itself. Those games muse be updated via a dumped update CIA file, which are easy to come by.

Lastly there comes the fear of being banned from Nintendo's online services, which for the most part have been blown out of proportion. As stated earlier, a cfw 3ds is no different then a regular 3ds aside from a few patches here and there. This makes it 100 percent impossible for Nintendo to detect a console running a cfw, and thus impossible to ban. Even running games invested via a cia file online are guaranteed to work fine online. Now this isn't to say that bans are impossible to come by. Many cfw users have been banned for unknown reasons. Though not much is known about these bans, there are several things that are known. 1: it is not caused by running a cfw or using pirated games. 2: users who do not use CIA Homebrew apps and instead use Rosalina 3dsx loading have been shown to be unbanned. 3: cheating online or playing leaked roms before they have been released will 100 percent result in a ban. From these clues, it can be concluded that people who simply use Rosalina to load 3dsx Homebrew instead of using custom Homebrew CIA files are nearly guaranteed to be safe from any future banwaves.

Again this might be a bit long to read, but I wanted to get this info out there, and so I would never have to bring this up ever again. People are free to quote this in their own posts if they feel this gets a good point across. I might update this post for updated information and/or spelling corrections. This was typed in the middle of the night on mobile so spelling mistakes are bound to be abundant.
It may or may not be useful.

dont u need CFW for Freeshop in first place?

i dont mean it bad but.....i dont believe this...for freeshop you need CFW (correct me if i am wrong)....you cant uninstall B9S via powercycle....and if you install the tickets via FBI (which works only with CFW....correct me if i am wrong).....you still cant use freeshop..

Cfw is installed via an installer you run from the flashcart. You can't uninstall cfw without going through a hassle. You still have cfw. Hold down select before you press the power button. Regardless if the flashcart is inserted or not, you will boot into the luma config, proving cfw is installed.

  • BigOnYa @ BigOnYa:
You should update the 360 to newest dash before RGHing it yes. But not a big deal if you don't, you can install new dash/avatar updates after. It's just easier to do it auto online before, instead manual offline after.

@BigOnYa I wanted to ask you about your experience with seeing south park. Most of the people a bit younger like my younger brother and cousins that are a few younger than me that saw kids found south park funny because of the curse words, kids at school, that seemed like liking the show on a very basic level.

I could not quite have a in depth discussion of the show.

How was it for you? As an adult. What did you find the most interesting part about it. Did you relate to the parents of the kids and their situations. Was it satires, the commentary on society. The references on celebrities' and pop culture.
  • BigOnYa @ BigOnYa:
I remember seeing the very first episode back in the day, and have watched every episode since. I used to set my VCR to record them even, shows how long ago.
  • BigOnYa @ BigOnYa:
I just like any comedies really, and cartoons have always been a favorite of mine. Family guy, American Dad, Futurama, Cleveland Show, Simpsons - I like them all.
  • BigOnYa @ BigOnYa:
South Park is great cause they always touch on relavent issues going on today, and make something funny out of it.

@BigOnYa were you always up to date on the current events and issues of the time or were there issues that you first found out thru south park
