can i have one notification sound a time on whatsapp?

hey all.

so im after some advice really

ive got a friendo on whatsapp who doesnt just send one message instead he sends about 5 as a sentence and its really annoying.

the result is every few seconds my notifcation goes of repeatedly and its irritating as hell

is there any way for me to have it so after he sends a message it wont notify me of the next and so on until ive actually read it.

ive already gotten pissed off and had to delete three notifcation sounds because i got tired of hearing them and even gone so far as to keep my phone in silent mode.

guess what it vibrates

and again

and again

and again

plus if i go silent i will end up missing important calls and texts

the device is an s8+ rooted with magisk

Some android roms (like many versions of Cyanogenmod and its boring successor Lineage) do indeed have an "any single application can only make sound for 1 notification every X seconds", else you could just block all notifications from said annoyer
