ROM Hack Can I have more than one save for Pokemon (any title)?

Apologies if this is the wrong section but I figured it counted as hacking the rom.

I have a physical cart of Pokemon X and I've just installed one of the Sun & Moon games. Now that I have Homebrew, is it possible to have a 2nd, 3rd or even 4th save?

Yes, the way id go about this is extracting each save file with JKSM. If you want to switch between saves youll have to inject the cart with the save you want to play.

So I create a back up save and switch between that and the over-write, right?
