I just got an EasyCap not too long ago. Video it's pretty good imo, but the audio has a lot to be desired. For some reason my Vista thinks it's a microphone so I can't tell it to improve the quality, and every "fix" I've tried online didn't work. (If you hear a lot of static, turn your volume down. It helps.)

I intend on streaming Mass Effect 2 and FFXIII when they come out. The audio is bad, I know, but I want some opinions: Is it so bad that you wouldn't watch the main stream, or is it decent enough? A few like GameDragon and some friends think it's okay, but I also wanna hear from more people.

I probably wouldn't watch it due to the fact the little audio I heard has given me a headache.

How is the audio being recorded? Is there a way to plug the audio cables into your line in?

The video for me is good enough, it's the audio that's killing me...

This is the Easycap. It's a USB gizmo that has composite ends. It goes through that.
But Vista treats it like a microphone...

I have no idea how to improve the quality at all.

The red and white ones are audio cables, right? I think you can get an adaptor that'll turn it into a single 3.5mm jack that you can then plug in to your line in to record audio from.

edit: is there a way to tell vista to treat it like line in?

I have a laptop. I don't even know if I have one of those.

From other guides I've tried following in the past, that's how Vista is supposed to get this as. One of the guides mentioned going into the Line In and shutting off all the enhancements and setting it to DVD Quality. As a mic, it can't do that.

the blue port should be your line in.

you can tell a mic port to act like a line in, but I'm not sure how you would do that in Vista.

Even my crappy laptop has a line in. Look for the microphone logo thing.

We talked about that already. There's likely somewhere you can plug it in.

Those drivers are for the DC60+, I only have the regular DC60.

And none of my Laptop's jacks are color coded. There's a symbol next to every single one though. Give me an idea of what symbol to look for?

    Offtopic but:

What's the video quality like before recording with the easycap? I've got a complex system of cables to get my ps2 and wii hooked up to my capture card and the quality isn't great, probably due to the video cable going through an s-video adaptor.

As for the symbol, not quite sure but it might look a bit like the speaker symbol but flipped (Line in as opposed to Line out).

Well, since I recorded the stream, I can say the quality of both video and audio is a tad bit better than what it shows in the recording. Just barely, but it's a noticeable difference.
