Hacking Question Can I get banned trying to hack my switch?

Well, there's always a chance; it's a risk a lot of us are in. But if you mod it correctly (with emunand), your Switch should be OK.

Launching a payload won’t get you banned.

Download TegraRcmGUI and Hekate (latest).

Extract the bootloader folder from Hekate on your SD card.

Attempt RCM mode and then connect to a PC. You will soon figure out if you can run payloads (either way, you won’t risk a ban doing this).

• Homebrew nsps
• Changing user icon through homebrew
• Sketchy eShop behavior

Not so instant ban, but still a ban:
• Modding online games
• Cheating in online games
• Clearing error logs after they've been uploaded to Nintendo (this may extend to using both emummc and sysmmc online, due to mismatched logs)

Not a ban, so far:
• Atmosphere itself
• Homebrew
• Custom themes
• Custom sysmodules (sys-ftpd-light, etc.)
• Mods/cheating in offline games
• Overclocking with sys-clk (just don't do it competitively, for all of our sakes)
• emummc

We just don't know enough yet:
• Screwing with PRODINFO, but NOT committing bannable offenses
• Using the experimental PRODINFO dummying included in Atmosphere 0.11.2 and later.

PS. I've been on emummc and playing legitly bought games online for a few months now.

yeh wondering same thing also thx for so much help.

I personally modded over 20 different people switches when I see it's orange I don't event attempt to do it. When it is orange "more than likely" it is patched which is why when people gave me the SN I just tell them it cant be patched... It is no reason to drive for 30+ minutes just to discover it cant be modded it wastes my/thier time.

Not to mention what if it is a macro unit idk if you can take it off the brick.

Yeh tegrarcm wont install the driver. Like it says its installed once I go thru the wizard but nothing happens. I would buy a banned one because I do not have the money to buy a unbanned unpatched one so I was going to just buy a banned unpatched one to make it easier on me.

Then use zadig. Same thing. List all devices and connect the switch while it is in rcm mode. And then replace the drivers.

When I am booting into RCM mode and injecting the payload and stuff can I get banned when I am doing that? I am asking because I might not be able to hack my switch it says (it's in the orange zone). Also if I can't load the payload onto it should I just format my SD card so it removes all the files? When I boot into RCM mode and nothing happens after injecting the payload can I just press the power button until the normal logo comes on?

Stop giving the wrong information. Running CFW does not get you banned. Pirating games and cheating online will get you banned

Using homebrew in sysnand will ban you. Definitely. All things in relation with homebrew can cause a ban. Forget what CrisFTW wrote. It's bullshit. That's the reason why emuMMC were implemented. The sysnand should be keep clean and emuMMC is for all your hackery stuff. There is a thing on the switch, called logs.
