Hacking Question Can I get banned if I downgrade?

I am currently on 6.2 OFW
If I restore my 4.1 NAND and re-update to 6.2 later for smash ultimate, will I get banned?

If you burned your fuse you can't downgrade, downgrade won't really affect ban too much, and currently 6.2 doesn't support any custom firmware.

Well I was thinking of making a backup of my 6.2, restore my 4.1 NAND and install autoRCM to autoboot to 4.1

For now I would says stick to 5.1 or 6.1 as you can always use tinfoil to ignore games firmware.

Try running a CFW to backup or restore your NAND right now with 6.2... we'll just wait here for you to come back in a few mins asking "why you got some weird error"...

you'll definitely get banned. if one user got banned because of an error log discrepancy on the servers (he had connected to the server with cleared logs after connecting previously with logs on his switch), you'll get banned for a firmware discrepancy if you're connecting to the server with suddenly lower firmware than from a previous connection, or higher firmware from the previous connection without updating from nintendo's CDN.

If you do a nand backup of a clean switch (clean meaning, there's nothing on it that would flag it for a ban, we don't know exactly what gets a ban so you'll get cryptic answers), and don't go online until after you restore that clean nand, what you do in-between the backup/restore should not matter at all. It's possible that there's already incriminating evidence on the switch that will lead to an inevitable ban, or that the backup/restore leaves a trace behind (very unlikely), or that you'll do something AFTER the restore which leads to a ban.

In short, do a nand backup, do whatever naughty stuff you're going to do (use protection!), then restore the nand before going online again. You will probably be ok, but no getting mad at me if your switch catches a ban. Abstinence is the only method that's 100% safe.
