Hacking Can I determine 3DS firmware before opening new 3DS box?

Before I get flamed, there was a site for 360 consoles, a database that compiled users feedback and you could pretty much determine what motherboard your 360 would have without opening the box, I'm just wondering if the same has been done for the 3DS?

If you're after the gateway, people say to get a 3DS that has a 2012 copyright on the box, not a 2013.

Thanks guys, it was easy enough to find a few 3DSs and a XL that both have a copyright of 2012n I haven't opened them yet because I'm waiting for the holidays, but seems like I should be safe according to what most say.

Also keep in mind that buying a 2013 doesn't necessarily mean you're gonna have >4.5. I'm a proud owner of Pink XL with 4.5 copyrighted 2013 so while it may be a gamble if you can't return the system in case you find out the version to be too high, it's worth a shot if you can
