now that sighax is released, is it safe to delete all the nand backups i made during the a9lh era?
You don't have too since you can still restore them. Why not just make a new one and remove the old once?
i'm not planning on doing any more backups
my question is, are nand backups still relevant today as a safety measure or can we skip them entirely when installing any hacks?
make a current back up and delete the old ones. You should NEVER be without a current nand back up. Yes the back ups will still be relevant. Its a way to recover from the brick if you ever have one.
nand backups are still good of you want easier fixes
Can you at this exact moment repair your 3DS? If no, then keep a backup. If your 3DS is hardmodded there is most likely no worries either. But it's a hell of a lot more job to reinstall everything than just restoring a backup.
Make sure what your backup contains.
Not only the A9LH/B9S, but also system files like ticket.db etc.
If you backed-up a NAND with messed-up system files and deleted old ones with proper system files, you would be in trouble in some specific situations.
even though a backup isn't really needed to bring a 3ds back to life at this time
i would still need to restore a backup if i wanted to access all the saves stored in the sd card right?
for that reason i think it's worth keeping one too, at least until other methods are found to restore saves on different systems
so many badges xD
I mean if something where to happen to your nand making it corrupt, I think you will RAGRET not having a nand backup.
backups are always relevant. always.
