I once tried a wbfs partition and defragging buggered everything up and nothing would load.

Just curious if defragging a FAT32 drive will mess up my backups or if it is safe?

(I use cfg usb loader v70)

    Thanks.

it should be safe. (fat32 and ntfs should be always safe to defrag)

    Edit: ninja'd

How were you able to defrag a wbfs partition? I thought they are not detected by the OS. And yeah defragmenting FAT32 is fine.

    yes it's save

but how did you even try to defrag wbfs
afaik there is no tool in existence that even tries to do
(well I know one that tries but I'm sure you don't have it)

Sorry it was a long time ago. I think it wasn't a defrag I did on the WBFS partition, but simply deleted and added games, and it would mess things up, as they seemed to be picky about their placement on the drive. I would install one game and 5 others would stop working. I now use cfg with fat32 so if defrag is ok, thats great! Thanks

that was probably the delete bug
if you delete a game from wbfs with the wrong tool you delete parts of another game too (simplified)

Yeah, just stick with FAT32, you can also move your homebrew to USB HDD on it as you may know.

Yea thats sweet! I suppose regular ol windows defrag is fine to use?

One other thing, I have been working on making it as childproof as possible. I got priiloader set up block updates, cfg to block any options that can make changes, without entering password. The one other thing that remains is the homebrew channel's delete function. It's still possible someone could delete the cfg app from the homebrew channel.

Is there a better way to prevent this other than putting the HBC on the last screen and using a forwarder? (The person I'm setting the machine up for has crazy kids so even if it's "unlikely" that they'd mess something up, they'd probably end up doing it lol)

afaik the forwarders look not only in /apps/ like hbc but in other places too
if you have another dol there the loader will still work
