    Hi All,

I have a friend that just gave me his psp to add modified firmware.
Can this be done with this model?
    Its a yellow psp slim.

You mean custom firmware. It sounds like you have the Limited Simpsons Edition. Verify that with your friend first, because they also released that color in Hong Kong with the TA-088v3 (unhackable) mobo.

If it is a Simpson Edition, then yes, it can take CFW. Check the firmware that's on it now. If it's 5.03 or less, then you can use the ChickHEN method to install CFW. If it's over 5.03, then you'll need a Pandora battery and MMS (magic memory stick). Pandora batteries are available on DealExtreme.com for only $6, and a MMS is just a normal MemStick formatted with Rains MMS Maker.

Download and update to v5.03, download run ChickHEN or MHUSpeed. Then download and run the motherboard testing tool. Anything other than TA-088v3 can take a permanent CFW. In that case download and install 5.50GEN-D3 otherwise download 5.03 GEN-C and tell him that everytime he turns his PSP off completely he must run MHUSpeed/ChickHEN and boot 5.03 GEN-C again.

That would be PSPident. Also, if he's already beyond 5.03, then that method won't work. He'll have to use a pandora battery.

Ok so update to offical 5.03.
Use PSPident to check motherboard and if not TA-088 v3 we can continue.
Use chickHEN to upgrade to custom firmware.
    Are these steps correct?

    Cheers
