ROM Hack Can Classic NES Series/Famicom Mini GBA games be converted to work on 3DS?

I have no idea if I'm asking this in the right place.

I tried converting SMB2 JP (The Lost Levels) but it gave me that memory error I seem to remember early attempts at emulating these games threw.

So is there a method that allows this to work?

Don't know why you would go down this path when NES emulation is a thing but if you have GBA emulation but it is not advanced enough to bypass the protections (for the curious about such things https://mgba.io/2014/12/28/classic-nes/ ) then you have long had the option to bypass the protections

Actually I meant running the games natively on the 3DS using the GBA "VC" (if you can even call it that) integration.

Though it might be easier just to emulate the FDS instead.

So an emulator then. The 3ds does not do any kind of hardware backwards compatibility layer, just an emulator as anybody would know it.
