Is your current HD w/ the OS a SATA drive? otherwise you'll need an adapter card.

Get a 965 based mobo and a core 2 duo [IMG]

Your components are gonna be outdated really fast otherwise.

Well it is definitely a "budget PC" I'll tell you right now those Prescotts run HOT. I have a few in my office that my employees use and they hit about 140 degrees (F). To compensate for the high temperatures I'd recommend either a case with better air flow. (An INTAKE on the front of the case and maybe TWO 80mm or just one 120MM) or go balls out on a CPU cooler spending about 40 bucks on a cooler. I am running the Dual Cores which run much cooler at 34-39 degrees  but your not gonna pull that off with your budget. Never used the Mobo company so I can't recommend....for the price though...maybe you can go to a newer chipset like Dirtie said. Video Card...really up to what your doing with it... The PSU is kinda important as it really is the HEART...I always recommend going quality with a PSU but again Budget is budget...Ram .... I know your going budget but I'd really get two matching pairs of 512 for two reasons....1) You'll be running dual channel and 2) 512 aint much. That's about all I got ta say....

Yes 965 Chipset runs off LGA775.....I just put one of my 3.4 LGA775's into a 975 Chipset board and it runs great.
