Well, $50 as opposed to $130... $80 can buy you a lot of flashcards and accessories

Just make sure the Phat is working properly. Is it flashed? That would save you $20 you'd have to spend on a passme.

Play with them both first before you make a decision. The screen brightness is way better on the Lite and makes a big difference on games with color and detail...it actually makes many gba games look better than they ever did on the gba. Other than that functionally it is about the same.

theres no point in buying a nds lite if youare getting a phat for that cheap. Save yourself some money. $80 more for something that does the same thing

I dunno, I loved my phat DS to death, but the lite's just so... mmm.. tasty. Colors are more vivid, and the screens are just so much better and brighter. Even the lowest light setting on the lite is brighter than the phat. Plus the stylus is much better, hell everything's better with a lite.

But still 50 bones is a good deal for a phat DS. I'd pick it up just to get started with your DS life. With your 80 left over dollars you could grab a flashcart + passdevice. Then in the future, pick up a lite, if you want.

Uh... buy the DS for 50, ebay it for about 80-90, and buy a lite.

I sold a couple phats for my cousin over the last month and a half or so... 2 went for OVER 120, and one went for 10xsomething....

People on ebay are stupid, and you could turn some cash

I hate the Phat DS...it looks and feels very cheap, it's BIG, and the screens look shitty compared to those of the DS Lite

once you've played with a DS Lite for some hours, you won't want to change back to the Phat DS...the screens are brilliant and make everything look much clearer...

well, on the other hand, the Phat DS has a way better d-pad, which is larger, more accurate and more comfortable to your thumb..the best d-pad ever on a handheld, IMO

$50 for a used DS is a damn nice price...I'd say go for it, even if you decide to buy a DS Lite later, you will probably be able to sell the Phat DS for good money on ebay

Buy the old phatty so you can get gaming straight away, but then sell/trade toward the FAR superior DS lite ASAP !!
You shouldn't lose any $$ so long as its complete with no dead pixels.
