Hacking buy r4 for original ds or 3ds?

hey guys i want to play original ds games but what would be a better choice?

-buy r4 for the original ds lite

or

-buy 3ds r4 however i think my sisters 3ds is fully up-to-date

basically what im saying is that did they stop updating the firmware on the original ds, ds lite and ds xl, etc. so the most r4 card for the original ds should work or is a 3ds r4 card atm that will support the latest firmware of a 3ds?

ds and ds lite didnt had firmware updates (the kiosk ones don't count)

there is not a ds xl, you mean DSI and DSI XL

get a DSTWO... best card for DS games ever.

R4i Gold 3DS will work on the latest 3DS firmware and it will work on the DS Lite as well. I probably wouldn't buy the original R4 in this day and age, simply because it only supports SD cards up to 2GB and it doesn't work on the 3DS.
