probably this video (for the DSi) will give u the best idea... i remember seeing it quite some time ago
I'd say it will be more like the slingshot or arrow or whatever view in ocarina 3ds.
The one where you have to move the system around to aim/move the camera(hint hint).

QUOTE(coolness @ May 7 2011, 01:18 PM) was this a orginal nintendo game?
Yeah, it's called Looksley's Line Up in america and something less gay here in europe(Tales in a Box: Hidden Shapes in Perspective). Only on DSiWare.
It's really picky about the background.
And it's challenging too.

My experience using the gyro in the periscope mode in Steel Diver made me a believer in the 3DS motion controls. It's much faster and more accurate than the Wii's motion controls -- I was surprised.

I really think that the Gyro+Slide Pad dual analog control scheme is gonna work well for 3DS games.

It had no room for a second stick.

Probably be tilt left and right (not back and forward) at a fair amount so you wouldn't lose the 3D or move the camera by mistake and stop when you are at a fair amount straighten up.

Not sure if zoom can use gyro.

@Everyone saying that you'll lose the 3D effect: This is most likely going to be the same gyro control as Steel Diver, which didn't have you tilting the system, but had you completely rotating to change the camera angle (which is why they demoed the game in spinny chairs). You'd still be looking directly in front of the screen, so you wouldn't have to worry about that.
I didn't know that about Steel Diver. If it'll be like this in Super Mario 3D I really hope that it's optional.
Of course it's optional. What, do you think that Nintendo expect you to be able to turn 360 degrees wherever you go? You'd look like really stupid, just picture yourself spinning in place on a bus or something.
FYI, the gyro camera control in Steel Diver that I was mentioning was optional. It's just waay cooler with the gyro controls, since it's like using a real periscope in the game.

The genius engineers at Nintendo could have easily just made it dual stick, even if it meant using a different input from the circle pad.

Also, it's good to know that Super Mario 3D will just have a terrible camera. Thanks Nintendo!

Am I missing something here or doesn`t the Wii have a second Analog-Stick as well (Pointer could work as a way to move camera but that wasn`t utilized in SMG(2)) and it still managed to have the best game of this generation.

Though I guess this time they want to have more open levels similar to SM64 in contrary to the more straight forward levels of Galaxy so maybe that is why they are talking about camera movement, since like I said in Galaxy it`s pretty sufficient to have limited control over the camera via d-pad, since the guided-camera is perfect most of the time!

But honestly no matter what they`ll do to control it I think everyone can be assured, that it is going to work well. It`s not like people ever got disappointed with main Mario games...

I'm not sure how effective a Gyro Camera would be on a Platform Game, but I trust Miyamoto.
THIS. This is what people nowadays lack, trust. If there is trust, nothing is impossible xP
