Well i have this ds that was dropped and the corner of the ds broke. everything is still functional just that the two screens are not really attached to each other. This ds was bought from a friend who bought it used, so there is no serial number on the back. I dont think nintendo will fix it due to misuse and not having a serial number(i guess unless i pay). so i think my best choice is to buy a shock case or something similar to replace the entire shell/case.

please give me your opinion about what i should do, shock case or just pay for a nintendo repair.

i have uploaded as many pictures as i was able to take. so help me out!!!

is it possible to get a rough quote from Nintendo by showing them the pics and describing operation?

yeah nintendo will fix anything, for a price obviously. I think as long as you dont mess with that ribbon cable on the left too much you should be fine. if the top screen of the ds starts showing odd tones of colors like red then try to not touch it much anymore and get it to nintendo asap (fix cost may increase if theres ribbon cable damage).

I would recommend getting a shock shell to replace it but meh my experiences havent been too plesant...

yeah i think that getting a shock case would be the least expensive choice but this being my first time disassembling the ds i am scared that i might break something.

but it seems that since im not going to pay nintendo all that money ill probably go with the case. what do u guys think about the other cases that are not shock! but are still replacements since they are about 10 $ cheaper than the shock! cases. also can anyone recomend me a good website to buy replacement cases cheap and at a reliable source(black is preferred) .

Don't go with SHOCK, I got that stuff and it's hinged cracked, the angle the DS opened at was reduced, and its just the see through one with paint on it, so you can still see through the DS, not to mention they don't have that nice gloss finish. You can go with this instead. I read a while back these were from Nintendo or something, they were smuggled out. But anyways, I've gotten the ones they make for the regular NDS, they're way better quality than what I had experienced with SHOCK, it's almost 1:1 with the original casing. Not to mention it 10$ cheaper than SHOCK. I'm still patiently holding out for a navy blue case to come out >.>
