Officer, this quoted outpouring of hatred was deeply offensive, throw this hateful monster in jail where it belongs.

Your defense? You didn't mean to be hateful? Too bad, whether an expression is hate speech is judged based on the listener not the speaker. You say the listener is full of shit and lying about how offensive your words were, subjectively? Wait till you hear about my claimed emotional damages.

Because freedom of speech protects allegedly hateful speech? Oops, not a defense for you anymore.

And I didn't even have to conflate threats.
You didn't address my point: why should it be treated different on social media vs face to face. A threat is a threat, no matter the medium.

You say you don't conflate, but i disagree. The police isn't just going to throw anyone in jail without reason or defense.
But even so: you're aware that the UK isn't a US state, right? Freedom of speech isn't in the constitution, and just because the us media milk that right for all it's got doesn't mean the rest of the world goes to the same extremes.

" the police isn't ( aren't) just going to throw anyone in jail without reason or defense".... are we... part of the same universe or is this like an MCU thing?

So now you're conflating American police with British police. Not to mention it's people like you who push back against any needed reforms or demands for police accountability. Still not helping your case, regardless.

I've watched a local tv show here. A Flemish police man (Andy Peleman) travelling around the world, working with local cops and talking about how the job differs throughout the world. My main takeaway: US cops are even more insane than the news tells us. Well... Less insane, obviously, but there's this internalized 'us vs them' mentality that's downright scary.

So... I guess in a way you're right. We're not part of the US universe, and Ive got no reason to presume otherwise in the UK.

So, you're just blithely doubling down on conflating threats with hate? I hate your stupidity right now. Explain how that threatens you in any way that should be actionable by the authorities.

what do you mean " people like me?" also i fully believe in police accountability, the only reform needed is further elaboration of a FAFO clause

a big part of is definitely the police, but even more so, i think an even larger part of of it is the system as a whole. There is SO much demand from agencies for people to be arrested because both from a tyranny level, but also, because, and this is something you probably wont read most places because if you know, then that gives you too much power, prison lobbies are the second biggest donors in the US, so its almost like theres an incentive for people to get locked up, combine that with non existent transparency and you have a recipe for the current climate with police. that said, i dont hate the police i certainly dont think they should be replaced with affirming rock throwers or anything, just trained on how to be, actual humans.
