Hacking bricked wii

my friend has bricked his friend's korean wii and never installed bootmii or preloader.
how can he fix it?
can he install bootmii in his own wii and copy the NAND of it to the bricked wii??

no cuz the bricked Wii doesn't have bootmii to do that

if the wii is completely bricked without preloader or bootmii it can't be resurrected

he could try to make a savemiifrii with a gamecube controller and try to update from a disk.

savemii free is useless without a modchip...

What rescue menu can he bring up, describe it please.

alimami - the video is of the "Maintenence Mode", and its limitations. If you want to see for yourself, just turn on the wii, and at health screen press and hold +, -, and A at the same time until the menu comes up.

It blocks changes to some options in the settings, and disables the message board. WC24 won't collect data either (things like news/weather banner info).

Why some people can get a wii working in this mode when it appears bricked if booted normally isn't really known.
