Ok so my Wii is bricked, starting it up without Bootmii results in the black screen

I have bootmii installed but even if I choose to go to the Wii Menu through it, or even through the homebrew channel, I still just get the black screen

I can't load Gamecube games, and some apps like Action Replay won't load anymore, even using Riivolution with Brawl, most of the time the game will start to load but freeze up right after the start menu, and on the few occasions I get it to work, the game randomly freezes when trying to load something

So would finding a virgin nand help me out? I also considered trying to get SNEEK installed, but that wouldn't work unless I could get to the system menu

Is there anything I can do or is my Wii just dead?

first off, if u don't have a nand backup from YOUR wii, make one now

then, via the homebrew channel, load mmm or w/e wad manager and install a non-stubbed IOS60 and a 4.1 system menu for your region (i.e. U for USA)

then you'll be able to load the main system menu, then u can just resoftmod your wii using ModMii as if it had never been modded before in order to update the remainder of your softmods

edit: you can download IOS60 and 4.1U system menu from modmii's download page 1, and u can download mmm from download page 2

I did as you said and installed IOS60-64-v6174.wad, and system menu 4.1 from mmm, and the sytem menu still won't load

That's very odd, all a Wii requires for it to boot is the system menu IOS and the system menu... u could also try reinstalling the BC, RegionSelect & EULA WADs, although I doubt it will make a difference.

Seeing as how you have bootmii at boot2, there is virtually no risk to trying this (especially since u now should have a nand backup). I suggest you try using ohneswanzenegger (http://gbatemp.net/topic/279750-ohneswanzenegger-wii-entry-pc-software/), basically using your wii's nand dump it will create a virgin nand for your wii that you can flash using bootmii.

I tried that already, not only did the sytem menu still not work, but it also killed my homebrew channel, so I had to restore my old nand, the system menu doesn't work on that but at least homebrew still works

Unless I did something wrong... but I followed the instructions pefectly, I chose to type in 4.1u to install the system menu, the one that's on my wii now is 4.0u, I don't know if that would make a difference

I'm not making this up or anything, I could make the file, show it to you and record what happens on my wii with my capture card and upload it to youtube if that would help

Any idea why your wii got bricked?

Not a clue, the disc drive stopped working, I replaced that, then a long time after, I noticed the wii just wouldn't load up sometimes, though it was rare at first, then over time it happened more and more often, until now I can't get it started, luckily I installed bootmii as a precaution before that, but I can't play gamecube games through homebrew or anything

edit: the disc drive still loads and takes discs, but the system menu won't pop up, and there's some strange darker black lines that show up on the already black screen, like something you see on a bad VHS

edit2: Also, even when I run SSBB through riivolution with hacks, the game gets to the press start screen, but when I press start, the game refuses to load the menu

Man, we've been seeing a lot of wii's dying lately from hardware failure. This quite possibly could be another victim.

That's so weird considering on the extremely rare occasions my Wii decides to work (1 in 75 tries), everything runs fine, it's just getting to the damn system menu

Actually... now that I think about it, playing Brawl, without any hacks, it was still prone to freezing when loading something

Damnit I don't have the money to buy another system with my school tuition, and my 2nd Wii has a broken Gamecube A Card Slot so I still can't play Gamecube games and save, sonnova, so there is no hope is there? :/
