Ive been given a wii to look at. It powers up to the extent that when I switch it on, the screen flickers, the dvd drive makes a noise, the power light stays on but thats all. I think its got preloader installed but I cannot get to the menu. Could this be a bluetooth module fault???? If so, I can buy a module but want to be sure its that and nothing else. Is there any way to confirm weather it is this or something else???? If it is, is it an easy fix once I buy the module??? Thanks in advance guys

That's not all that much information to work with. What caused the brick? Holding reset after turning it on isn't getting to preloader? What makes you think it's a bluetooth module problem?

No mate, it doesnt. The lad who is belongs to softmodded it, it worked ok, played back ups and everything. He then updated to 4.0. He put a game in, system update came up on the disc channel, he clicked on it then the wii went to restart and that was it. Can you advise, thanks

If he bricked it with a disc update, a new bluetooth module won't fix it.

He probably has something wrong with the system menu. The update probably updated the system menu, which overwrites preloader. Either way, if it has no bootmii, and preloader doesn't work, its probably Big N time for it.

or wait until a game is released with a newer update on itm that apparently works, not sure how mind.
the Wii motion plus is out in less than 2 weeks, you might find that segas virtua tennis has a system menu update, but ya wont know that untill its released.

Im sorry if ive got that wrong, someone will surly tell me how stupid i am if thats the case [IMG]

    newbies... jesus.

and what a nob your friend is too. if preloader was installed it would have been wiped out if a system menu update was carried out.

why the hell would he update after softmodding. tell him he should have installed preloader and skipped update checks and then say, mikeyt1998 laughs in your face.

Sorry but unless he had bootmii installed, it may not be possible to fix. I know that when I soft-mod peoples wii's I tell them, consult me before you mess around with firmware or anything.

How about NOT slagging people off who have come here for help and advice, you were a n00b once too.

If im not mistaken, this is the gbatemp COMMUNITY, why not have a look in a dictionary and find out what that means.

People mainly come to forums for HELP and ADVICE, unlike some who come to PRETEND their more intelligent than someone else. If your the latter, why not do us all a favour and get lost or at least keep your mouths shut long enough for someone to help.

    Sigh...
Put simply, no Preloader/BootMii, no fix.

    Ship it to Ninty.

There is nothing you can do to help your Wii.

Send it to Nintendo and pay $200.00 for repairs. Good Luck!

Is the wii still under warranty, as in your friend bought it less than a year ago?
