    Random question.

Do we know if Breath of the Wild natively renders in 480p when you are in Gamepad mode or have the Wii U set to 480p?

I'm curious as to whether the game gets a little speed bump. I have no issue playing the game "normally". I rarely see any lag. I'm just being a curious geek right now.

At least on the gamepad with the Wii U's HDMI set to 720p I don't see any FPS improvements. Why not try it yourself?

It renders to gamepad native resolution automatically. [480p]

It renders fine on the gamepad at 480p which is the maximum resolution I guesss. The important thing here is the text is readable. But, nothing beats playing on the big screen. It's better and looks beautiful.

I always play on the game pad, and yes, I often see some fps drop, but they rarely last more than 0.5 second, so it's not really bothering me

I would imagine there is no definite trick for any frame rate fixes, considering the console is outputting to both Gamepad and tv at same time?

To increase fps, we would need to modify game itself.
Probably cutting render distance would improve things. [And make it look ugly]
But still, what did you expect from a 5 year old hardware?

it doesn't do both at the same time. it's one or the other.

you can try cutting down all vegetation in an area and just maybe the less geometry will help improve fps.

480p? Why not use composite or component (or s-video) and take it down to 480i while you're at it. I'll keep using 1080p over HDMI, because i think it plays just fine as is.

Been playing on the gamepad. My shitty old television has terrible colour rendering, and I prefer the feel of having a large gamepad in my hands.

I'm currently playing with the Wii U set in 720p and letting my 4KTV handle the upscaling. It still looks beautiful.
