However, i think that BOTW is much less revolutionary in comparison to Ocarina of Time.
I was born in '97 so there is nothing revolutionary about oot for me. Games have always been like that as long as I can remember.
Also, botw is very revolutionary when it comes to the combination of open world with the physics system and that you can go everywhere.

Tbh, i was born in 98 and i don´t really remember BOTW being as revolutionary as it is, by the time it came out there were a lot of Open World games and it didn´t really brought much new stuff to the table. Even then, Ocarina of time wasn´t revolutionary for us, i must say that, but from an historical point of view it was.

Am I the only one annoyed by people saying Breath of the Wild is a bad Zelda game because its not like the other traditional Zelda games?

It doesn't annoy me for being different. I stopped paying because I personally dislike certain mechanics, such as weapon breaking and cooking / mixing stuff.

Yeah. I have read about it everywhere. Well, people have different taste for this game. For me, I love all Zelda games except Windwaker Not bad), Majora (Disliked it) and Ocarina of Time (Disliked it). They were annoying games about "Time" and "Song". And I accepted three of them and finished them patiently, thought. I am a huge fan of Zelda. So no complaint here.

However, i think that BOTW is much less revolutionary in comparison to Ocarina of Time.

I've been playing games since around 1982 and, for me, I didn't find Ocarina of time to be in any way interesting. I completed it, but I cannot really say that I enjoyed it much, or that it left a lasting impression on me. However, I was not really into the N64 as a system, I found the textures muddy and the games looked drab. Not all games are about looks, of course, but I found the Ocarina experience kinda middling. Not sure 100% why but that and the next game are the Zelda games I've liked the least (I didn't actually play skyward sword, right enough). For me, the wind waker was one of the more innovative titles, as I really liked the ocean travelling and the different islands, you'd never quite know what was coming next. I also loved the graphical style. Not many people mention that game when talking about great Zelda titles, but I think it's probably my favourite. That or Links Awakening. Breath of the Wild is great, I wasn't aware it was so lauded, though, by community and critics alike. It's a cool game that has such a weight of content but a couple of niggles did kind of annoy me. I did miss the larger dungeons from previous games and I really, really didn't like the weapon breaking mechanic (or the cooking). For an open world game that was billed as "play as you want", there were definitely still things that you were clearly supposed to do and rules to adhere to in order to do well. To me, it still feels 100% like a Zelda game, though. We've had loads of different types of Zelda games over the years. Sure, this is the first truly "open world" title but it still, afaic, ticks all the required boxes and features the characters in the manner we usually expect to see them. It absolutely feels correct to me as a Zelda title. It'd be kinda hard to argue that it's not very much a Zelda game, as Zelda games have, historically, often deviated heavily from the style of previous titles in the series with new iterations. They've been used, to some extent, as system showcases many times and, obviously, they cannot be such if they're just going to do the exact same as the previous ones, and in the same style. For me, I felt BOTW was a decent halfway point between something like wind waker and twilight princess, in terms of graphical style and general feeling. Not my favourite Zelda, but it's definitely a good game.

One serious problem I have with it, and this is more my brain than the game, I think, is that when I play it for a while then take a break I can't remember any controls, or what I'm doing ;p The previous titles, you'd usually be in a dungeon or on the way to one, and your equipment was much easier to manage and tended to upgrade as you went along (I mean in the way that key items are dispensed just as you need them etc, so their presence or absence could also remind you what your current goal was). I know there are yardstick sort of weapons and equipment in BOTW but the fact you can rush to the end of the game without any of them means that I pay much less attention to what I'm carrying, or don't know I'm carrying something that could help me in a certain location. I have no problem with games like Morrowind where I have to read ingame books to find locations and wander for ages randomly, seeking them out from the scraps provided, but it feels weird in a Zelda game for there not to be an overarching "direction", merely as it's the first game that hasn't really had one. Wind Waker was similar, but in more metroidvania way where it'd be completely obvious if you weren't ready or able to tackle a certain area at that point.

Writing this has made me want to return to BOTW, though, once again! I promised myself that when I last completed it I'd put in a patch for unbreakable weapons, so might do that this time out and just bask in the durability ;p

did you finish wind waker? I know a lot of people really didn't like the opening couple of hours, and it can be a bit of a drag but once the game opens up I thought it was really a perfect piece of game design (for me, at least). The dungeons are really well put together.

Also, just thought to add this, BOTW is a much better game than GTA V. That game is extremely overrated, I just can't get on with it at all. A horrid game wherein everyone is a pastiche of an already hollow stereotype and a game world in which nothing has any consequence or weight, standing oddly in juxtaposition to the retarded weight of ammo you'll expend being bored all the way through it as you're forced to endure cliche after cliche. I see many more people going on about GTA V than I ever see about BOTW. BOTW deserved the praise it got, imo, it's a very well done game and a good foot forward for the series. I don't really see BOTW mentioned much at all these days.

BoTW is what made me realize what games can be
I am sorry you missed out on seemingly all of the PS3 and 360 open world games.

Anyway BOTW is not bad/mediocre because it is not like other Zeldas (for that matter I would say it is or at least I can draw a very direct line to it) but because it is a hodge podge of poorly thought out/implemented systems, a forgettable world and boring story/characters even by Zelda standards.

I understand them to a degree because there are so many things I wish they brought in from traditional Zelda games that would have made the game better in my opinion and it feels like a lesser game as a result. Still can't help but love it because I can get lost for hours just exploring and constantly finding secrets and that's just a lot of fun. It just could've been so much more, I feel they strayed a bit *too* far away from the traditional Zelda formula. Making it open world is fine but they could've balanced it with traditional Zelda elements better and minimized some annoyances like increasing the amount of stamina you start with and increasing weapon durability.

I don't agree that it's a bad game though or even a bad Zelda game. It's different, but different isn't bad, it's just different. Some people are afraid of change. That said I would be afraid too if they decided this was going to be the formula for every new Zelda game from now on because I certainly don't want to lose the traditional Zelda formula.

You test that extension thing through a regular usb reader on your pc? Could just be a shit one. Bought one for my 3d printer and it just straight up doesn't work

it can't be plugged into a USB reader (it's made from a regular SD card to USB adapter, but with the USB end modded to a Dreamcast serial plug)

It was working fine before I installed the GDEMU, but now the Dreamcast doesn't recognize it when I boot up Dreamshell.
