Hacking BootMii is installed as boot2, but doesn’t load on startup.

So, I recently got out my old Wii and decided to softmod it.

I used the Banner Bomb exploit, or whatever it’s called, to install the Homebrew Channel and BootMii as IOS and boot2.

Problem is, that BootMii doesn’t boot up on startup at all.
The disk drive led also blinks the same with and without the sd card intserted.

I also tried reinstalling BootMii (uninstalling it from hackmii and deleting /BootMii), still nothing.

I can still launch BootMii as iOS from the Homebrew Channel, but I heard people say that this is not as safe as having BootMii installed as boot2.

Is there a known way to fix this issue?

The disk drive blinking, means that it can't find your SD card. What kind of SD are you using? It works best with normal SD cards, not SDHC/SDXC. Also, make sure it's correctly formatted to FAT32, with the partitioning table set to MBR. Mark partition as active. Try again. If everything else fails, try some different SD cards. BootMii can be picky when it comes to this.

My card is formatted to FAT32 and uses MBR, it’s an SDHC Card so that might be the problem.

I also tried reformatting it, still nothing.

You said that BootMii can be picky when it comes to what SD card I am using. Is there like a Tool to check my SD card for compatibility? Is there some kind of list?

As far as I know, sadly not. You're gonna have to try it out. I'd highly recommend getting a good, standard SD Card.

I haven't been gaming for such a long time. Been mostly busy with sleep, hardware tinkering and checking GBAtemp frequently.
  • SylverReZ @ SylverReZ:
Hope you've had a good morning.

It's going alright thanks :) I know what you mean with gaming time. It's precious where I can get it these days.

I think that's why I focus on just enjoying single player experiences that aren't too competitive

    How are you doing?

There's also this thing where I'm hyperfocused at night and cannot get to sleep.
  • SylverReZ @ SylverReZ:
    @Maximumbeans, I'm doing alright, thanks.

That must be rough. Productive I'm sure but hard to balance with daily life

@Maximumbeans, Indeed. I've been working on getting this Infecutus chip to work on my PS2. But after soldering, I realised that a plastic piece was missing from the power ribbon cable to the power and eject buttons.
  • SylverReZ @ SylverReZ:
Now I could go with soldering the contacts from the cable to the connector on the mobo, but doesn't sound like a good permanent solution.

Man, that's beyond my brain  I'm no good with hardware for now. I'd like to get into hardmods in future though
  • SylverReZ @ SylverReZ:
@Maximumbeans, Maybe start practice soldering. Get a cheap-ass soldering iron and follow some good YouTube tutorials.

Least my experience has gotten better than over a decade ago. My iron would constantly bump into components and break them.
  • Maximumbeans @ Maximumbeans:
Sounds good. I actually did soldering but like 16 years ago for school so uuuuh probably rusty haha
  • SylverReZ @ SylverReZ:
@Maximumbeans, Same here. I did soldering at school from a teacher who I honestly liked since he had plenty of good electronics experience.

@Maximumbeans, I had a friend who had a glass chess set for their birthday.

It was like all clear and fancy. Tbf I'm not too experienced with chess, but would like to learn someday.
