Hey guys, my ISP has constant outages and there is a mcdonalds about 0.9 miles away from me, I was wondering what I could do to boost my wifi signal so that I pick up their connections.

Also yes, it's a public connection thats free so its legal.

I have one of these adapters

And was wondering if I Could get something like this

And stick it out my window to pick up the signal. Maybe make a cantenna around it?

Well what about something shorter like the 0.9 mile distance I gave. The building is literally a block away.

Let me put it this way: A high powered consumer wifi router can output a signal approximately 300 feet. With a high powered wifi adapter, you can give yourself another 150 feet or so, so that's a total of 450 feet. Lets say you make yourself a cantenna, and that gives you another 300 feet or so, so a total of 750 feet. 0.9 miles is 4,750 feet (approximately). You would need to have some sort of ridiculous repeater setup in order to get any kind of wifi signal from 0.9 miles away.
