That's contradictory, ssspwn is the only method on the horizon that wouldn't need the "expensive little card"Still would be nice to have something that didn't require an expensively priced little cartridge.
And I don't care about ssspwn.

Gonna be honest here, but I'd only use it for homebrew at this point
howeverThat's a major purchase given my income.
I have all the 3DS games I want...

ONTOPIC: Looking forward to a SNES emulator that can run full speed unlike the DS ones I've used.
I know. The PSP didn't have enough power either. I believe/hope the 3DS has the power.
Snes emulation has been done on the 3ds, granted it's harder making a all round emulator than targeting specific games, but it shows it should be possibleI know. The PSP didn't have enough power either. I believe/hope the 3DS has the power.

But the DS can't display 3D in the way the 3DS does. Not to mention it can't decode video data unlike the 3DS (See: Netflix and Youtube).I'm definitely not buying the "only for homebrew" line, especially since at this point, there's virtually NOTHING worth paying any kind of money for. Why do you need homebrew so bad? Everything 3DS homebrew does at the moment, the DS can, and does better? You just want it for the sake of wanting it, and you don't want to pay anything for it? What's the fun in running an emulator on 3DS that won't let you play any games? You can emulate just fine, ON THE SAME CONSOLE, with a DS flash cartridge. You can play Aperture Science, instead of some buggy engine demo, serving as a proof of concept.
You want a cartridge for homebrew? Dude ... What homebrew?
The PSP emulator snes9xTYL MECM offloads the audio to the mediaengine, which helps the speed a lot. The vast majority of games run full speed. Even so, most special chip games are unplayable, while some graphically intensive games need frameskipping or speedhacks to run properly. I expect similar performance struggles with SNES emulation on the 3DS since both systems have similar processing power. Right now though the 3DS is behind the PSP in terms of homebrew capabilities. Good luck to the author though -- he picked a toughie.I know. The PSP didn't have enough power either. I believe/hope the 3DS has the power.
Indeed he did and I'm also sure he knows that it'll be a tough ride working on it.The PSP emulator snes9xTYL MECM offloads the audio to the mediaengine, which helps the speed a lot. Some people would argue that spending $70+ on one cartridge would mean huge savings, since you don't have to buy games, like ever. And don't tell me you want it for homebrew, because I wouldn't even pay said $25 to $35 for emulators that can barely run NES games. I get it, though. You want everything to either be free or dirt cheap. Keep wishing for a soft-mod, because the real shit ain't cheap, buddy, and since Gateway is the team behind all progress (not counting all of those amazing things by other scene devs, that never get released), they can ask whatever they want, and your choice is either to pay, or not. Can't afford it? Tough bananas.
Why do you think I bought my Gateway for, then?
Now, I know this is more of a proof of concept than anything else, but I will make it evolve into something usable and even useful, rest assured of that.
