Hi all. I added some homebrew apps to my sd card. When I loaded it into the 3DS, I got a black screen with the blue light on. I am able to load up luma config, D9, E9, and uncart. Is there a way to fix this problem without restoring nand? It was working perfectly fine before I added the files to my sd card.

What happens if you delete the 3ds folder? I don't think adding a homebrew app caused the problem, my guess is that you accidentally deleted or renamed the payload. Is there an arm9loaderhax.bin file on the root of the SD?

Impossible. I re transferred over all those files from a backup folder. I'm positive all the payload files are in there.

Could you have possibly accidentally overwritten the old payload with a backup file? Cause no way are homebrew apps causing this.

Why would the backup file mess with the payload? I agree, its likely not the homebrew.

I'm saying that when you restored the files from the backup, you might have accidentally overwritten the main payload. Have you tried copying the payload to PC, formatting the card, then only copying back over the payload?

By payload, you mean all the files necessary to run A9LH right? Like the files at the end of Plailect's guide.

I'm trying that right now. Could be a problem with the sd card if the formatter fixes it.

Edit: Still getting a black screen with blue light. I have no idea what the problem is.

Is that the one from the release folder (on the root) from the github page?

Edit: Nope. That didn't work either. Weird thing is, I'm able to run D9WIP and all the other payloads. So it can't mean that I have a faulty SD Card.

I don't see an arm9loaderhax.bin on there, but as long as it isnt the 2.x file, you should be safe (you can probably find it on that iso site too somewhere)

Yeah, that didn't work either. But now my 3DS is actually booting for whatever reason. But it seems to be an older NAND backup point. Weird thing is, I never restored from that backup. Any ideas on how to get my current NAND back? Also, is there a way to recover my saves? I don't have a current NAND backup but I seem to still have the files on the SD Card.

If the games were installed on the same nand, just use fbi to "reinstall" the cias, and they will appear on the home screen again with everything intact. The only way to recover the current NAND is to have a valid backup of that NAND.

So for some reason, my NAND reverted to a previous state? And reinstalling should recover the save files?

Assuming the files are still on your sd card, yeah, fbi should give you some error, and selecting no will have them appear back on your home menu afaik.

Okay. Sounds like a stretch, but I'll give it a shot.

Also, I have some arm9loaderhax.bin.bak file on the root of my SD card. Is that normal?

Edit: reinstalling the cia files didn't give me an error. They are reinstalling. Will report back once they have finished to see if the saves were saved.

Having a Arm9LoaderHax.bin.bak is not normal unless you used some kind of program to manipulate it, which creates backups automatically (like certain hex editors).
I don't think the payload is the problem, because if so the 3DS would turn off immediately.
The only reason I can think of for this to appear is a faulty NAND.

I am assuming you are using a SysNAND setup and it was indeed working before, from what you wrote. (Correct me if I am wrong)
Please check if your Luma3DS (which I think you are using?) is set up correctly and make sure your config is set correctly and you have "SysNAND is updated" checked.
Are you using a non-screeninit or a screeninit version of A9LH?

    Edit:
As your older NAND Backup seems to work don't mind this.
Saves are stored NAND specific on the SD Card. So as long as you didn't format anytime in between and acquired a different NAND ID your savefiles will still be read as before, as long as you use the "newer" files from the Nintendo 3DS folder on the SD Card.
As stated before the games etc are also installed on the SD but are not visible in your Homemeni because they are missing in the titledb.
You can still launch directly from DevMenu.
To get them back into the titledb you can simply reinstall the games via FBI. (Or acquire the "newer" titledb from the "newer" [bricked] NAND if you backed it up.)
