Hacking black screen after loading game via usbloader GX

Hi

I am having quite some troubles with mine friends WII. I have softbrewed a couple of WII's with success. But this one is a tough one.
For the record. I have upgraded to WII version 4.2E (pal). I then installed the homebrew (with removing ios 249) with cios36rev14.
The WII is a D2C2 DVD drive. I installed the WAD USBLoaderGXr850 chanal. I use a 0.9 Tbyte disc. The disc is formated with WBFS and the ganes are loaded onto the harddrive.

I did the same with two WII's (mine own and my friends). My works perfectly

The one of my friend doesn't. Two differences with the WII's. I have a model earlier WII (D2c ??) and I have a WIIkey2 installed. My WII works perfectly with the harddisk which I also use for the other WII

The following is the problem. A) If I insert the original discs the DVD drive doesn't turn (I don't hear the disc spin). B) I can go into the USBLoader, which shows me the games on the hard drive (I can download the covers) etc.. But if I start a game I get a blackscreen.

I have (re)tried the installation, cios36rev19, pimp my wii (which did update a lot of ios's). installed cios222, different usbloaders. All without the desired result.

Could it be a hardware error as the DVD doesn't turn?
Somebody suggested updating the to 4.2E via nintendo again (doesn't sound right to me). Is there a way to get the WII into the original state? (If I can get it running the original DVD's I will be happy (and my friend too)).
Should I use the firmware updater?? Or is that the sure way to get a brick?

I am completely lost and badly in need of help.

Solved!!!!!

I opened up the WII and found that one of the two ribon cables was unattached.

Wise lesson. Always check the WII before starting !!

Everything works fine.
