Gaming Birth Island (Pokemon)

So I downloaded a save from GameFAQs which had some Pokemon with items like the Eon Ticket and Aurora Ticket. I traded those to my save file for FireRed and now I have all the possible tickets, but I can't get to Islands 8 and 9 in the Sevii islands. How do I get there?

You can not trade tickets (except the Eon Ticket in R/S over mix records)...

So even though I have the tickets, I can't use them?

Normally you should be able to use them, but maybe you'll have to delete them and try it again ...
