Warning: the following may mean absolutely nothing to some of you. You swine. Bill Watterson, legendary author of Calvin and Hobbes, came out of hiding briefly to collaborate with comic author Stephan Pastis on three strips of his Pearls Before Swine comic. This is interesting and/or significant because aside from the interview and poster he did for the documentary Stripped, Bill Watterson has made no public appearance in twenty years. And the idea was that, for a few days, Bill would draw Pearls Before Swine in Stephan's place. After some brainstorming the two decided Bill's contribution would come in the form of drawings by an annoying new character introduced to PBS for just this occasion, Libby, who would draw a few illustrations to show Stephan how it's done, and then ride sled off into the sunset (referencing the final Calvin and Hobbes strip, for those of you who don't get it). The strips have run (the last one ran yestarday), and the secret could finally be revealed. And here they are: Is this a sign of things to come? Is Watterson coming out of his hiding? Or will he retreat back into his hole for 20 more years? Source.
