This is not true. The 3.0 most likely will have emuNAND, just because SonyUSA didn't have it in the beta doesn't mean it won't be in the final revision. The nature of the exploit is that it is a kernel exploit, meaning emunand is almost a given.
they most likely weren't testing emunand, just the rest of the features.
1.Download a fw update between 4.2 and 4.5 using NUS3D. Make sure to tell the program to set the cias' version number to a higher version than that of your current fw, otherwise they will fail to install. How?
So should I get a Gateway now?
There are also a couple Android apps if you have a smartphone Swing, which will let you launch the exploit offline using the hotspot on your phone. If you're on 9.2 and below and want a flashcart, sure!
Just be aware that (currently) the exploit for anything above 4.5 requires internet connection to visit a web page. This has to be done every single boot if you want the Gateway to work. Hopefully, by the time GW 3.0 is out of beta, there will be another solution (Mii QR code?). There's also the option of using Gateway to downgrade to 4.X, letting you use the original DS profile settings exploit, which doesn't require internet access.
Wow so you have to go to that site EVERY time you want to play if you are 4.5+? What's all this nand/emand stuff? I'm a psp/vita hackers so it's all new to me. Sounds like downgrading is where it's at. Would I have to buy to gateways? Or could I use one gateway and one flashcard that I can install fiancee's games on for her?
According to my friend you only need it to boot into emunand and play cia's as you wish, I also can't 100% confirm that though.I think you would need 2.
You can install games in .cia format to the system menu (similar to eshop games) on emunand, but I believe to boot emunand once you've created it you must have the GW card inserted.
I'm sure someone can confirm, I can't test right now
And nand dumps are just an image of the system's internal memory. You always want to have a clean copy of this backed up to your computer, so if you ever brick your console you can flash it back with a simple hardware mod. These are unique to each console, so you can't flash one console's nand to another - which is why it's important to keep a back up of your own.
Emunand is a feature offered by Gateway. It partitions the 3DS's SD card makes a copy of the nand to it. Through the Gateway menu you can actually boot into this seperate nand, where changes will persist but wont affect your system nand (sysnand). You can also update the emunand to the latest version (9.4) and Gateway functionality will continue to work on that. Follow a guide if you're not sure what you're doing, because you can easily update the sysnand instead of the emunand.
